yourOS vs OpenAI Dots
Dots work in OpenAI’s cloud. yourOS works on your own server.
In short
Dots are always-on agents in ChatGPT, launched on 29 September 2026. Each dot works from its own computer and browser in OpenAI’s cloud, on OpenAI’s GPT-6 Astra, and the first one comes with ChatGPT Pro or Business Premium. yourOS is a whole operating system on your own private server: a crew of agents rather than one, memory you can see card by card, and an agent who phones businesses for you.
Every dot gets its own Linux computer and Chrome browser, among everyone else’s.
Your dot
Your own server. Nobody else’s data sits on it, and you control it.
Side by side
Dots and yourOS, point by point.
Both get on with things while you’re away. Where they work, and who they answer to, is where they part.
| What | Dots, from OpenAI | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | Always-on agents inside ChatGPT1 | An operating system with an AI at its heart |
| Where it works | Its own Linux computer and Chrome browser, in OpenAI’s cloud2 | Your own private server, inside a private network. You rent it, you control it |

| How many | One dot included. More are promised “in the future”, not yet priced3 | A crew of eighteen to start, and as many of your own as you like |
| What it remembers | Learns from ChatGPT and your apps. Single memories can’t be seen or deleted, only the whole dot2 | Every memory is a card you can read, correct or forget |
| The phone | You can call your dot. It can’t place calls itself2 | Phones businesses for you after your OK, and rings you back with news |
| Before acting | Rules you set: act alone, act if pre-approved, ask first, or hand it to you. Moving money always asks2 | Money, messages and anything you can’t undo wait for your OK. On a call, you say back a two-digit code |
| Your words | On personal plans, the “Improve the model for everyone” setting decides whether they help train OpenAI’s models2 | Sent to the AI without your name. One switch blocks every outside AI |
| Who can have it | ChatGPT Pro, from $100 a month, and Business Premium. Pro isn’t offered in the EEA, Switzerland or the UK3 | Coming soon. The launch date and price will be announced, in US dollars |
Memory
Forget one thing, not everything.
A dot learns as it goes, but its memories are out of sight: to forget, you delete the whole dot. In yourOS every memory is a card.
I keep each memory as a card. Forget one, and only that goes.
Hi, I’m calling for Sam. Could we move Thursday’s check-up to next week?
We’ve got Tuesday at ten.
Tuesday at ten. Shall I take it?
The phone
It picks up the phone for you.
- It phones businesses for you: a table, the dentist, a hotel abroad. It asks first, then tells you how it went.
- Abroad, it makes the call in the local language, or translates both ways while you talk.
- Long jobs carry on after you hang up, and it rings you when there’s news.
Dots, at launch: you can call your dot by voice, but it can’t place a call itself.2
A crew of your own
One dot, or a crew of eighteen.
Your first dot comes with your plan, and more are promised later. yourOS starts with a crew of eighteen, each with a job, a personality, a colour and a handwriting of their own. Pick one.

- You want calls made for you, here or abroad.
- You want it to look and sound like yours: its name, colour, handwriting and voice.
FAQ
Questions, answered.
The short answers to what people ask us most.
Is yourOS an alternative to OpenAI Dots?
Yes, if you want an agent that gets on with things without living in someone else’s cloud. A dot works from a computer in OpenAI’s cloud. yourOS runs on your own private server, inside a private network, with a crew of agents and an AI service that picks the right model for each job.
Can Dots make phone calls?
At launch you can call your dot by voice, but it can’t place a call itself. Roxy phones businesses for you after your OK, can make the call in the local language or translate both ways, and rings you back when there’s news.
Where does a dot run?
Each dot has its own Linux computer with a Chrome browser, in OpenAI’s cloud. Access to your own computer is optional and starts switched off. Every yourOS runs on its own private server that you rent and control.
Can I see what a dot remembers?
Not memory by memory, at launch: to forget, you delete the whole dot. In yourOS every memory is a card you can read, correct or forget, and forgetting removes everything built from it.
Can I get Dots in the UK or Europe?
ChatGPT Pro, which includes a dot, isn’t offered in the EEA, Switzerland or the UK at launch. Business Premium is available in all of ChatGPT’s supported regions.
Does yourOS use OpenAI?
Yes, among others. yourOS has one AI service built in, from QQuantum, that draws on frontier models from several labs, OpenAI’s GPT-6 Astra and GPT-5.6 Sol among them, and picks the right one for each job. Your requests are sent without your name.
